Titanium placer mineral processing process
The main type of titanium placer deposit is seaside placer, followed by It is an inland sand mine. Titanium placer is formed by weathering, crushing and enrichment of primary ore under natural conditions. It has the advantages of easy mining and selection, low production cost, good product quality, many types of associated minerals, and high comprehensive recovery value. It is one of the more ideal mineral resources. Titanium placer is currently the main source of mineral products such as ilmenite, rutile, zircon and monazite in the world. Except for a few ore bodies that have overlying layers that need to be stripped off, titanium placer deposits can generally be mined using dry mining or ship mining machinery without stripping. Dry mining machinery includes bulldozers, scrapers, loaders and bucket wheel excavators. There are three types of mining vessels: chain bucket type, stir suction type and bucket wheel type. The mined ore is transported to the roughing plant via belt conveyor or sand pump pipeline. The titanium sand ore dressing plant is divided into two stages: roughing and concentration.
1. Roughing
The ore sent to the roughing plant first undergoes necessary preparation operations such as slag removal, screening, classification, desliming and concentration, and then is fed into the roughing process for selection.
The purpose of roughing is to separate the selected ores according to different mineral densities, discard the low-density gangue mineral tailings, and obtain a heavy mineral mixed concentrate with a heavy mineral content of about %, which can be used as feed material for the concentration plant.
The roughing plant is generally integrated with the mining operation to form a mining and dressing plant. In order to adapt to the characteristics of sand deposits, roughing plants are generally built as mobile. The methods of movement include floating boats on the water, land tracks, crawlers, pallets and regular demolition. Titanium sand ore roughing generally uses equipment with large processing capacity, high recovery rate and easy application in mobile dressing plants. The more common ones are cone concentrators and spiral concentrators, and a small amount of shaking tables are used. The above-mentioned equipment can be used alone or in combination.
2. Selection
Titanium sand ores are comprehensive deposits containing several valuable minerals. The purpose of selection is to effectively separate and purify minerals with recovery value in the rough concentrate. Meet the respective concentrate quality requirements to make it a commercial concentrate. The selection plant is generally built as a fixed type. The crude concentrate is transported to the concentration plant for processing by cars, trains or pipelines. The selection operation is divided into two stages: wet and dry, with dry operation being the main one. Depending on the nature of the coarse concentrate, partial wet operation is usually used in the early stage of the beneficiation process. Sometimes there is a process of alternating wet and wet processes during the selection process. However, from the perspective of energy consumption and simplification of the process flow, we strive to reduce this process where possible.
